I’d made a fairly conscious effort to avoid fashion, only wanting to do it if there was a way to do it “my way”. I had no idea that would come in the form of a campaign for the legends at SOSUME and a “do whatever you want” brief, literally. I know it’s probably far from a practical way to run a fashion brief in most cases, but in theirs placing the focus on creating a mood rather than a rigid list of boxes to tick was a pretty unique move.
So we put a callout for a model, somehow snaring the amazing Danielle Hayes (NZ top model 2010), took a bunch of garments, and went to a local band rehearsal studio for a couple of hours of shooting on medium format film. Some new rolls, some expired by about 50 years.
